Description

Neolife Smart 8 – Pure Salmon Oil offers all of the benefits of one of nature’s richest sources of omega-3 fatty acids, with standardized amounts of all 8 omega-3 family members.

Omega-3 fatty acids have long been recognized and proven to play important roles in the human diet. Two omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil, EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), in particular, have received a lot of attention.
Today’s scientific research not only confirms the critical roles of EPA and DHA in human health, but it also demonstrates that there is a whole family of omega-3 fatty acids, a total of eight, that contribute to optimal human nutrition.

This critical dietary omega-3 fatty acid chain begins with ALA (alpha-linolenic acid) and ends with DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), taking six critical steps along the way. Each now has its own distinct biochemistry and a “synergistic” role in human omega-3 nutrition.
Many countries’ dietary guidelines, including those from the United States Department of Agriculture and the Food-Based Dietary Guidelines for South Africans, recommend that all adults consume 2-3 servings of fish per week for optimal health.

Unfortunately, many adults eat very little fish on a regular basis and thus rarely meet this important nutritional need.
For weeks, if not months, large portions of the population do not receive any broad-spectrum omega-3 supplementation. Not to mention that much of the fish supply is tainted by environmental contamination.
Pregnant women, who have the highest dietary needs for omega-3 fatty acids, are advised to limit their fish consumption to one serving per week due to contamination risk.

There are currently no formal recommendations for the amount of omega-3 fatty acids that children should consume.
However, depending on the child’s age, the USDA recommends 85-225g of seafood per week, including fatty fish (such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel) high in omega-3s.
Meeting these recommendations for omega-3-rich fish intake per week equates to 250-500mg of omega-3 fatty acids per day. Despite the importance of omega-3 fatty acids for children, few of them consume enough fish.

According to South African research, children in general consume more saturated fats and fewer polyunsaturated fats, particularly omega-3 rich sources. This is true even in coastal communities where residents have greater access to fish that may be high in omega-3 fatty acids.
In the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa, fish is the lowest calorie source in the family diet.
With Omega-3 Salmon Oil Plus and Smart 8, NeoLife addresses the issue of insufficient omega-3 fatty acid intake by providing a complete omega-3 profile of salmon oil with all eight members of the omega-3 fatty acid family, ensuring complete omega-3 supplementation in every dose.
